By:
Chris Horwedel
Chris Horwedel: Your a
California boy, is there any added pressure when you stay in-state
to play college football?
Tom
Brandstater:
I don't think so. To me, it's more relaxing
because I know there are a lot of people in the stands who are
behind be good or bad.
Chris Horwedel: If you could only watch
tape of one player for the rest of your life, who would it be?
Tom
Brandstater:
Tom Brady. He is such a great football player.
Every thing always seems to go his way, but as a fellow quarterback
I know its because he does all of the little things right.
Chris Horwedel: Do you think that it's
necessary for players to have a certain amount of an ego in order to
truly excel in the game of football?
Tom
Brandstater:
I don't you have to have some a big ego. In
fact, I think it hurts you at some point. Obviously, you need
confidence and belief but every needs to have doubt because that
gets you up in the morning to work.
Chris Horwedel: What's something that would
surprise people about Tom Brandstater?
Tom
Brandstater:
I'm a pretty standard guy. I guess the two
coolest things about me is I love to golf and I got my Masters
degree here at Fresno State.
Chris Horwedel: If you had to single out
one guy on your team for having stepped this year, who would it be
and why?
Tom
Brandstater:
Its hard to pick one guy, but I'd have to say
Seyi Ajirotutu. He has emerged as a dependable wide out.
Chris Horwedel: If you could add any one
current college football player to the Fresno State roster today,
who would it be and why?
Tom
Brandstater:
Michael Crabtree, because that guy is a phenom.
He is an instant mismatch and will make any QB look good.
Chris Horwedel: How do you feel you stack
up against the top quarterbacks in the country?
Tom
Brandstater:
I have confidence in my ability. I know I have
the arm talent to make all of the throws but I understand there will
always be things for me to work on.
Chris Horwedel: If you could pick a pro
team to play for, who would it be?
Tom
Brandstater:
That's a question asked all of the time, but to
be honest, I just want to play football in the best environment
possible.
Chris Horwedel: What's more important to
you in the beginning of your NFL career: Being on a great team or
being able to play early on?
Tom
Brandstater:
There are pros and cons to both. Great teams
have great quarterbacks so it would be nice to win and learn from a
great QB but the competitor in me wants to play from day 1.
Chris Horwedel: Let's say you're named the
college football commissioner tomorrow, what's the first rule you
would change?
Tom
Brandstater:
The way money is divided amongst teams and
leagues. Coming from Fresno State I appreciate what Coach Hill has
done with little support. It is getting better, but I believe
parity is a good thing for college football
Chris Horwedel: What's your current
height/weight/40?
Tom
Brandstater:
6'5 220. 4.77 40
Chris Horwedel: What's been your single
greatest football moment so far?
Tom
Brandstater:
Playing well and helping my team beat UCLA on
their home turf.
Chris Horwedel: On the flip side, what's
the one moment you'd most want to do over?
Tom
Brandstater:
The triple overtime two point conversion play
against Texas A&M in 2007. Even though there wasn't much else I
could have done, I go over that play all the time and wonder what
else I could have done
Chris Horwedel: Lets talk get to the
important stuff. What's the last movie you saw, cd you bought and
video game that you played?
Tom
Brandstater:
Last movie was Stoploss, the last cd was the
new one by Rise Against (my favorite band) and the last video game
was Call of Duty 4 on xbox live
Chris Horwedel: What's the best advice
you've been given?
Tom
Brandstater :
Play Forward. I write it on every pair of cleats I wear because its
so important of a saying to me.
